WANT TO GIVE MEDIATION A TRY?

Getting started

I am a member of the NY, NJ, and CT Bars. My interest is in your bottom line and not my own. Consider emailing or calling me. If you live outside of my geographic area, we can have our sessions using on-line tools such as Zoom. This works especially well where there are only a few issues that may require mediation. Mediation is not a legal procedure, but one that utilizes the concept of Alternate Dispute Resolution.  Its goal is simple; Win-Win.

My policy regarding my fee for family mediation (or other mediation needs) is as follows: (Please mention this website when you contact me)

Many people have decided they wish to mediate before they contact me. However, for those who are unsure of their commitment to mediation, I offer the 3 following options:

1. The 40-40

I conduct a consult into the mediation process by meeting with the parties for 40 minutes. The fee is a modest $40 and that payment is applied as a set-off against any future mediation services. There is no obligation beyond the 40 minutes and its accompanying fee. The parties are advised about mediation benefits and have an opportunity to pose questions specific to how the mediation process might work for them. The parties then advise me at some point if they are interested in mediating their dispute with me.

2. The 60-60

If the parties wish to try-out the mediation process, they can meet me for a 60-minute session. The fee for that session is a modest $60. After the session, I discuss with the parties what the professional fee will be if they wish to continue mediation sessions. There is no obligation to continue with mediation or pay any additional fees.

3. Financial Limitations

If the parties wish to mediate but face financial needs, they may discuss this with me. In many cases we can work out a plan that is mutually satisfactory.

I practice in Northern New Jersey, but arrangements can be made to ensure that the mediation will take place on alternate sites, closer to where you live. If you live outside of my immediate area, we can use on-line methods of convening such a discussion. I mediate for one reason; i.e. it is private, dignified, time-efficient, and cost-effective. The average cost of e.g. a mediated divorce is substantially less, that is the cost of a litigated divorce. The cost to BOTH parties is often well less than half of the cost of a litigated process. Mediation makes sense. Mediate don't litigate.
